The lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell has been suspended for the time being. The New York District Attorney has completed the charges. The trial continues on December 16. Then Maxwell’s lawyers will respond to the charges.
Maxwell, 59, is suspected in the case of recruiting vulnerable young girls with the aim of abusing them by sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. She is also suspected of having participated in the abuse herself. That would have happened between 1994 and 2004.
Four women have testified against Maxwell. Yesterday it was the last woman’s turn. Annie Farmer said she was groped by Maxwell and Epstein when she was 16. She is the only one of the four women to have revealed her name.
In one of her testimonials, Farmer says that Epstein bought her a plane ticket to New York. He later took her and her sister to the cinema, where he stroked her hand and felt her leg during the film. It wasn’t until Epstein saw her sister watching that he stopped.
“I felt sick to my stomach,” Farmer said. “It wasn’t something I expected at all.” A few months later she met Maxwell for the first time. She instructed the girl to massage Epstein.
Maxwell’s lawyers deny the allegations. They say parts of her story cannot be supported by evidence. The defense also says that their client was seen as a scapegoat for Epstein who committed suicide in prison in 2019.
Maxwell was indicted in July last year. If found guilty, she could face a total of 80 years in prison.
