OM demands maximum youth detention for the murder of 14-year-old Lotte Inland

The crime happened on January 10 this year. Together with his then 17-year-old brother Lotte, the boy allegedly assaulted and strangled him at the Het Wendelgoor industrial estate in Almelo.

The reason for this was a fight over a nude photo that the oldest farmer had sent to Lotte. He found out that Lotte had forwarded the photo to others. The brothers therefore wanted to give her ‘a slap’.

Once at the industrial estate, the meeting turned into a fight. Lotte was eventually pushed into a ditch and died. The brothers covered her body with grass clippings. Only later did research make it clear that Lotte had died of strangulation.

According to the public prosecutor, there is no murder because the brothers had no preconceived plan to take the girl’s life. There is, however, a case of manslaughter. Because the youngest brother was only 15 years old at the time, the maximum juvenile detention that can be imposed on him is one year.

The eldest brother was last week demanded the maximum juvenile sentence of two years in juvenile detention and juvenile detention.
