It looks like the fence is off the dam. After actress Scarlett Johansson decided to sue Disney over the royalties she should be getting for Black Widow, has Gerard Butler done something similar.
Butler and his team have decided to sue Nu Image, Millennium Media and Padre Nuestro Productions over Olympus Has Fallen and the payment of royalties. The actor says he still has to get about ten million dollars from the producers after the film grossed 170 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
Arguing over royalties
In the indictment, Butler’s team refers to the ongoing battle between the film’s producers and the Director’s Guild of America over pension payments. According to him, the film’s producers devised a rather complicated web that would hide the net proceeds so that Butler could get as little royalties as possible.
The team of actress Johansson already stated in their indictment that more parties in Hollywood would file lawsuits. “This won’t be the last case where Hollywood talent stands up to Disney and makes it clear that whatever the company claims, it has a legal duty to honor its contractual obligations.”
Now Gerald Butler also decides to sue his producers. Is the fence off the dam?
