The Men’s National Team experienced its first defeat in the Olympic tournament, with the “rapist” of the World Champion Croatia (13-14). The Greek team has to play the powerful Italy the day after tomorrow, before knowing their opponent in the quarterfinals.
The team of Thodoris Vlachos paid for the very bad third eight minutes, when they “managed” to concede 7 goals. Their counter-attack brought it to 12-12 with a goal from Stathis Kalogeropoulos, but the Croatians dominated in the final. The score variation per period: 3-3, 3-1, 3-7, 4-3.
The Greek goals were scored by Gennidounias, Skoubakis, Argyropoulos 2, Kalogeropoulos 2, Papanastasiou 2, Foundoulis 2, Nikolaidis, Vlachopoulos 2.
The women’s national team, which has three defeats in as many matches (8-12 yesterday against Italy), will fight for the ticket to the quarter-finals on Sunday night, against the hosts France.
