It is surely the worst morning since the start of the Olympic Games for the French clan. No medals were won this morning, and especially favorites fell earlier than expected in their competitions. Only the judokate Romane Dicko (+ 78 kg) was able to pull out of the game.

Teddy Riner eliminated in the + 100 kg quarter-final
Thunderclap in Tokyo. Ultra-favorite for a third consecutive gold medal in the + 100 kg, Teddy Riner was beaten in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament by Russian Tamerlan Bashaev. The French delegation could legitimately hope for beautiful medals this Friday morning, during the women’s and men’s BMX finals. With four representatives, all hopes were high. But in the end, it’s a dotted zero.

Judokate Romane Dicko in the + 78 kg semi-final
French judokate Romane Dicko qualified for the semi-finals in the +78 kg category. To reach the semifinals, Dicko was quick. In her first fight, it took her less than 30 seconds to score a waza-ari and then immobilize Lithuanian Sandra Jablonskyte. In the quarterfinals, she then beat by ippon in just over a minute the Brazilian Maria Suelen Altheman, third in the last world championships.

Rugby VII: the French women’s rugby team largely beat Canada 31-0, during the second day of the Olympic tournament. Les Bleues finish first in their pool and qualify for the quarter-finals (program at 12 noon).
Athletics, 800m: Rénelle Lamote qualified for the semi-finals of the 800m at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday. Meet at 1:50 p.m. for the next stop.
Athletics, 3000m steeplechase: Alexis Phelut qualified for the final of the 3000m steeplechase of the Olympics (Monday). Big disappointment on the other hand for Djilali Bedrani and Louis Gilavert, eliminated from the start.
Swimming, 100m butterfly: Mehdy Metella missed qualifying in the final by two hundredths of a second. The United States Caeleb Dressel, he flew over the semi-final and seems set to win gold.
Gun at 25 m: the French Mathilde Lamolle and Céline Goberville failed to qualify for the final.
Archery : Lisa Barbelin was eliminated in 8e of the individual event by Mexican Alejandra Valencia (6-0). There is no longer a French archer competing in the Olympics.
