He says that the problems started in his high school years, when he started an independent life in Riga. There was revelry, the wrong people around, rock and roll… Mick says that he has always been an introvert and used strong drinks to relax. “I wonder how I finished high school – I was in school for maybe two weeks in the 12th grade…”

He stopped drinking alcohol for the first time at the age of 27, when his son was born. But after some time, he started to get addicted to drinking again, and he admits that

is currently at a stage in his life when he is trying to put an end to his relationship with alcohol for the second time.

“During Covid, I refocused [alkohola lietošanai]. There wasn’t really anything to do. The stay-at-home and all that seriously affected him,” says Dukurs. During the first wave of covid, he was left almost without a voice and visited various doctors for more than half a year. The reason for this was psychological experiences. “I was really sick,” he says.
