Botek and Baláž failed to maintain speed from the start and could not keep up with Westhuyzen with Green and Hoff with Schopf, who had a very strong conclusion. This means that the Slovak double kayak will have to fight for a place in the quarterfinals, which should offer two races. The first of them should start at 6:18 Central European Time and Botek and Baláž already know that they will go in the second quarter eight minutes later. For now, that’s all from me, but don’t miss the second quarter-final, which will decide whether the Slovak double kayak will present itself in the semifinals or end unexpectedly after today.
–
We know the six ships that will be presented in the semifinals. In the first race, the Australian and German pair won the promotion. Nádas with Kopasz and Dostál with Šlouf prevailed from the second start without any problems. In the last start, the Spanish and Chinese crews finally managed to accelerate, which was enough for them to advance easily.
–
the goal
This is the dominant procedure for Cubelosa with Peň and Congkanga with Tingkaio, who finally had a lead of about ten seconds over the Russian pair and Béke with Varga with an even bigger distance to the fourth place.
–
750 m
But at the moment, Spesivtsev and Anoškin are only in third place, because they were overtaken by the Chinese and the Spaniards.
–
500 m
It does not look good for the second Hungarian ship, which is having a hard time making it to the two advancing places and is still leading the Russian ship.
–
250 m
At the front of the third race there is a Russian pair, but it is very balanced and Beké and Varga are only in the fourth place.
–
The second start was slower, which is why Dostál and Šlouf only needed 3: 13: 425, which is only half a second faster than Baláž and Botek.
–
Dostál and Šlouf managed it and kept the second place, which ensured them progress directly to the semifinals! The Hungarian favorites also continue from the first place.
–
750
Fitzsimmons and Wood are already losing more than two seconds to Dostál with Šlouf and the Hungarian pair, so everything seems clear.
–
500 m
This is already the second place for the Czech pair, with Nádas and Kopasz favorites in the front.
–
250 m
Dostál and Šlouf are still in third place, but they do not lose much on the Australian and Hungarian ship, so they will still fight.
–
So we will see if at least Dostál and Šlouf will manage to avoid the quarterfinals, which Baláž and Botek did not succeed in doing.
–
The final time of the Slovak pair in the finish is 3: 13: 982, while they lost about four seconds to the Australians and the Germans.
–
the goal
And finally, it is only the third place with a bigger loss, because Baláž and Botek did not have the strength to finish, so Westhuyzen with Green and Hoff with Schopf advance to the semifinals!
–
750 m
The Australian ship is already ahead of Botek with Baláž and even German favorites are starting to push from behind, so it will be difficult.
–
500 m
Baláž and Botek are still in first place and the second place is surprisingly held by Westhuyzen and Green at the moment.
–
250 m
The start is really great from the Slovak pair, because they are already more than half a second ahead of Hoff and Schopf!
–
So everything is being prepared for the beginning of the first start, which interests us the most, and in the third track, Baláž with Botek is already ready.
–
Gold from Rio is defended by Germany and bronze by Australia, but it is interesting that Serbia cannot defend silver because their double kayak failed to qualify for Tokyo. Botek and Baláž will try to improve the eighth place where Vlček and Tarr ended up in Rio at that time.

The Czech pair Josef Dostál and Radek Šlouf will present themselves in the second race, where they will also fight Nádas and Kopasz from Hungary. The latter is definitely in a good mood from the world record and the gold from the individual races, so he would like to win another in the K2 for 1000 meters.
–
The strong German pair will be Botek’s opponent with Baláž in the first start, in addition to which they will present Borykau and Yurenia from Belarus, Brown and Imrie from New Zealand, the Canadian double kayak consisting of Malfesi and Jourdenais and the Australian ship Westhuyzen with Green. Only two ships will advance to the semifinals and it is expected that Botek and Baláž should fight for the second place in the semifinals with the Australians. However, no one looks, because the other boats will get a second chance in the quarterfinals.
–
Schopf missed the medal at K1 1000 meters, because in the close the silver was stolen by the Hungarian kayaker Ádám Varga and the bronze by Fernando Pimenta from Portugal. Hungary also celebrated the gold medal thanks to the phenomenal performance of Bálint Kopasz, who won the world record. Schopf tries to forget the big disappointment and next to Hoff tries to attack the gold on the same length of track.

Welcome to watching another speed canoeing discipline at the Tokyo Olympics, in which Slovakia could have even more hope than it did in the case of Petr Gelle. The double kayak composed of Samuel Baláž and Adam Botek has an excellent form, because only in June did the Slovak ship become the European champion, when they were only defeated in Poznan by the German duo Max Hoff and Jacob Schopf. It is the Germans who are huge favorites for gold, but the Spanish, Hungarian, Czech, but we believe that the Slovak crew could also fight for other precious metals.

Welcome to the online transmission. The event starts at 04:22.
