World record holder runner Lameja Girma was carried away on a stretcher from the Stade de France after tripping over the final hurdle and falling down. Girma was left on the ground and passed out as his teammates passed him finishing the race. Fortunately, he recovered and was able to speak a few minutes later, according to L’Equipe.

Girma was on the track for some time before medical personnel came to his side, USA Today reports. Four doctors fitted him with a neck brace and he was taken off the pitch on a stretcher to the 2024 Olympic Stadium medical facilities.
Girma was taken to the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital for further tests, according to L’Equipe.
“In 40 years of running and steeplechasing, I’ve never seen a decline like this.”Peacock announcer Leigh Diffey said during the broadcast, according to The Athletic .
