The duo of Evangelia Plataniotis and Sofia Malkogeorgos took the 6th place in the artistic swimming duo. In the free program, the two Greek women scored 281.8418 and collected a total of 532.3002 points. The duo of Irni and Anna-Maria Alexandris, who represented Austria and finished in 4th place, was left off the podium amidst cries of “injustice”.
After the technical program, the Plataniotis, Malkogeorgou duo was in 8th place, with 250.4584 points. They were originally ranked 13th, but moved up the rankings after an appeal.
The artistic swimming duo completed the Greek presence at the Olympic Games in Paris. The final tally is 8 medals: 1 gold with Miltos Tentoglou in the long, 1 silver with Apostolos Christou in the 200m backstroke of swimming and 6 bronze (Tselidis in judo, Fitsiu-Kondou and Papakonstantinou-Gaidatzis in rowing, Petrounias in hoops, Karalis in pole vault, Kurugliev in freestyle wrestling).
