Olympic Games: Nick Calathes in emergency hospital – 2024-07-30 23:05:47

Nick Calathes complained of severe pain in his ribs, after the end of the national team’s match against Spain, in Lille, for the 2nd matchday of the 1st group, in the men’s Olympic basketball tournament. The international guard had received an elbow during the match and was taken to the hospital.

The paraclinical examination performed, with x-ray and ultrasound, was negative for an obvious fracture site and showed damage to the soft tissues and between the last ribs.

Nick Calathes is already on pain medication and is under medical supervision. The national team hopes to be able to compete in the crucial match against Australia next Friday (2/7, 14:30), in which the “official favourite” needs a win to qualify for the “8”, after the two losses to Canada and Spain.

The EEC reports in this regard:

“Nick Calathes was taken to hospital after the match against Spain due to a sharp point on the right side, following an elbow he received during the match.

The paraclinical examination performed, with x-ray and ultrasound, was negative for an obvious fracture site and showed damage to the soft tissues and between the last ribs.

Kalathis is already taking painkillers and is under medical supervision.”
