Thodoris Tselidis won the first medal for Greece at the Paris Olympics.
The 27-year-old athlete prevailed in his repechage Tristani Mosakhlisvili with 1-0 and won third place in Judo and the -90 kg category.
Tselidis’ journey to the bronze medal
Tselidis dominated in the first round against Robert Florentino of the Dominican Republic, while in the next round he eliminated Serbian Nemanja Maidov, one of the top ranked judo fighters.
In the quarter-finals he was defeated by Maxim – Gael Abou, but had one more chance to win a medal, by participating in the repechage.
This is the third medal of Greece in judo after the gold medal of Ilias Iliadis in Athens in 2004 and the bronze medal in 2012 in London.
