A medal was secured by Iman Kelif, the Algerian boxer who was unnecessarily targeted after her Italian opponent withdrew just 45 minutes into their bout in Paris, where the Olympic Games are being hosted.
Kelif cruised to a comfortable 5-0 win over her opponent, Ana Luca Hamori of Hungary, to advance to the semi-finals of the 66kg category, which meant she secured at least the bronze medal (combat sports are awarded two bronzes, the losers of the semi-finals).
Indeed, after her victory, Kelif was visibly moved, bursting into tears in the arms of her coaches!

It is noted that the IBA, which lost its international recognition from the International Olympic Committee last year, announced that it will offer the Italian boxer Carini, who abandoned her fight with Kelif, the amount of 50,000 dollars, her federation another 25,000 dollars and to her trainer an additional $25,000.
