Olympic Games 2024: Seine-Saint-Denis wants to train thousands of volunteers

If it hopes that the economic fallout from the Olympics will above all benefit its inhabitants, the department of Seine-Saint-Denis also wants to involve as many people as possible in the Paris 2024 volunteer program, which will hire 45,000 people during the competition. . A unique opportunity to expand your CV, or to forge memories for a lifetime.

To prepare a maximum of inhabitants to apply, the departmental council launched this Tuesday a platform called “All volunteers”. It is aimed at young people aged 16 to 30, people with disabilities regardless of their age and volunteers from the sports movement.

“The Olympic Games will leave a material but also immaterial legacy, recalls the president (PS) of the department, Stéphane Troussel. There is pride in participating in the biggest sporting event ever organized in your country. We want to share this emotion with as many people as possible. »

Preliminary applications

Concretely, future candidates will be able to register on the platform, mention their skills, experiences, preferences… Then, they will be able to discover a multitude of training courses on a portal (in English, first aid, digital, etc.) to adapt their CV for the Olympics. Future candidates will also be able to carry out volunteer missions in Seine-Saint-Denis. So many skills “valuable on the job market”, underlines Stéphane Troussel. And so well after the Games.

Another great advantage: from September, accompanied people will be able to apply in preview to become a volunteer, while the official application portal will not open until February 2023 for the general public.

The Director General of Paris 2024, Étienne Thobois, also welcomes this initiative. “The volunteer program is for me the most important of the Games, believes the former French No. 1 in badminton. When you’re a spectator, it’s the first contact you have with the Olympics and when you’re a volunteer, it’s an incredible memory. If you walk around Savoie today, you will come across people who are proud to wear their Albertville Olympics uniform thirty years later. (which hosted the 1992 Winter Games) and they all say they have had an extraordinary human experience. They take great pride in it. »
