Effort, self-sacrifice, sharing and solidarity are all things that represent sport in general and which obviously echo in my career and even my personal life,” confides the basketball player. “I am a godmother and among the initiators of basketball camps in France and Cameroon. Their main purpose is transmission and sharing. Eager to offer structures and time to young girls and boys to practice this wonderful sport which has given me unique knowledge of the world in which we live. »
For her part, Laurence Klein is used to running, she is the coach of the French 100km team. “The Olympic Flame route is a strong symbol of the transmission of sporting values. Sport embodies, a source of success, surpassing oneself, resilience, sharing and open-mindedness. This is how I built my life through all these strengths that sport gave me”confides the Rémoise woman. “As an athlete, every time I wore the French team jersey during international running competitions, Marathon, 100km and Trail, I felt carried by this ardor for success. As a business leader I keep the same fabric and I continue to draw inspiration from it… It will be a great honor for me to carry the Olympic Flame in my City of Reims. »
“Promote the place of sport in society, and encourage young people to practice it”
Table tennis player Lucas Creange will also be there. “Carrying the Olympic flame will be an honor for me, it is a prestigious moment for the bearer, which will also be attractive for spectators from Reims and others. I would also like, thanks to this, to be able to make my sport known: table tennis. Having obtained a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, I know that sport carries values like work, but also like perseverance and solidarity. This will therefore be an opportunity to promote the place of sport in society, and to encourage young people to practice it. »
As for Ismael Taggae, world breakdance champion in 2013, he is happy that this passage of the Flame will bring greater visibility to his discipline. “I want to pass on my passion for this sport which combines artistic creation and athletic performance. Through my dance school in Reims (more than 1,200 students), our interventions in schools, in the neighborhoods, I wish to transmit this sport without borders, the taste for challenge, surpassing oneself and entertainment among young people , but also with parents, more and more of whom join me in volunteering. »
