Zachová is the first Czech judoka to qualify for the Olympic Games in twenty years. In 2024, she won the European title in the weight category up to 63 kilograms.
“Even if I didn’t win Europe, I was going to Paris with the highest goals. I want to wash my best, and a medal is the nicest bonus. In the season I also did well against the best. Why shouldn’t it work in France as well,” she said in an interview with Sport.cz before departing for the venue of the Olympic Games.
However, the match against Özbasová did not work out for the Czech representative. After sixty seconds, she received the first punishment from the referee, and after another two minutes, the Hungarian received a wazari assessment, which put her in the lead.
Zachová still tried to do something with the development in the remaining sixty seconds of her match, but she was punished for the second time and did not score any scoring situations on the tatami.
For this year’s winner of the European Championship, her first participation in the Olympic Games ends with elimination in the first round.
On Wednesday, David Klammert, the first Czech male representative of judo, who fights in the weight category up to 90 kilograms, will make his appearance on the Parisian tatami mats. Then on Friday, the defending gold medalist from Tokyo in the weight category over 100 kilograms, Lukáš Krpálek, will take his turn.
