With a great victory over Real in Faliro, Olympiacos managed to lick the wounds of its defeat in Sunday’s “eternal” derby: 79-69, with Shaquille McKissick leading the way. At halftime, the score was 36-34.
The Spaniards dominated the first part, with a difference that reached 7 points (17-21, 24-31). Alec Peters sparked the Reds’ counterattack, which was overtaken by shots from McKissick and a 9-0 run just before the break. Real stepped on the gas orchestrated by Campacho and led 46-55 with unstoppable surprises.
But the “red and white” had not said the last word. Peters equalized at the beginning of the fourth period (59-59) and McKissick gave new impetus with a nail and three-pointers: 64-59 and 70-65. Sasha Vezenkov scored 75-67 and Olympiacos sealed the precious victory.
Olympiacos now has 3 wins in 6 matches, while the Madrid players also have a 3-3 record. SEF was packed with 12,000 spectators, since the last tickets were sold a few hours before the jambol.
Sasha Vezenkov was once again the leading scorer for Olympiakos with 23, while McKissick stood out with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Thomas Walkup added 12 points and Evan Fournier 10.

Olympiacos will host in-form Barcelona on Thursday at SEF. The Catalans defeated Efes tonight in Turkey 88-97 and lead the standings with a 5-1 record. Zalgiris follows with 4-1.
Panathinaikos (3-2), coming off big wins over Fenerbahce in Istanbul and over Olympiakos in Faliro, will welcome Villerban (2-3) on Wednesday night at OAKA. Two days later, the “greens” will be tested in Belgrade against the strong Red Star (3-2).
