–Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev are on the entry list for the Olympics
Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka, Serena Williams and Simona Halep – these five names are just an excerpt of those players who will not start at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. If you look at the entry list published on Thursday, the participant fields are still impressive.
In the men’s field, the two world number leaders Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev will lead the field. In addition to Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev, the name Roger Federer also appears on the entry list. However, before the start of the tournament in Wimbledon, the Swiss had emphasized that he only wanted to decide on his start at the world ’s largest sporting event after the performance in London. Andy Murray will be playing in Tokyo.
No Austrian in the individual
From a German perspective, in addition to Zverev, Jan-Lennard Struff, Dominik Koepfer and Philipp Kohlschreiber are also registered for the individual. There will only be Austrian participation in doubles: Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald will try to get a medal in pair skating.
In the women ’s field, Ashleigh Barty and Naomi Osaka lead the field. In addition to Halep and Williams, Sofia Kenin, another Grand Slam winner from the current top ten, does not participate. For Germany , however, Angelique Kerber and Laura Siegemund will attack from July 24th.
