Hirschberg-Leutershausen. Many are happy and grateful that the support group of the Olympia cinema last year agreed to revive a cult event under its aegis. The “Schlemmerkino Reloaded” in autumn 2023 was immediately a great success. In the spring, the event was also sold out in no time at all, except for two or three tickets, as the financial director of the support group, Andreas Höhler, reported.
So you have to be quick again, because advance sales for the next gourmet cinema in the fall, for which the support group and the restaurateurs have now presented the program, start on September 5th. The three dates are Monday, September 30th, Wednesday, October 2nd and Thursday, October 3rd, each starting at 6 p.m. under the roof of the market hall in Leutershausen. On October 1st, a private party will be guests at the cinema.
The support group and restaurateurs cannot currently imagine extending the gourmet cinema to several days. “The event is run by volunteers,” explains the association’s secretary, Babette Labryga. On each day, six to eight people from the association are on duty, and even more are needed for the setup. “The gourmet cinema is also something special and should stay that way,” says Labryga.
And the volunteers are also on duty at the market hall right from the start, when the entrée, freshly baked tarte flambée from the “FantasTisch” and secco from the Teutsch winery, are served. For the small tarte flambées, there is a classic and a vegetarian version, restaurateur Achim Sagstetter uses a special oven.
And then the Freddy Wonder Combo starts, accompanying the event with music and a lot of humor. Freddy Wonder is himself a big fan of the Schlemmerkino. He was also the one who initiated the new start. With their music and enthusiasm, the Combo takes the audience along from the start, enthuses Labryga. In such a good mood, they head to the Olympia cinema at around 6.30/6.45 p.m., where Viola Keller’s starter awaits the guests: a colorful bulgur salad with feta cheese, beetroot hummus and eggplant cake.
But wait a minute: Weren’t the restaurateurs usually responsible for the dishes in a different order? They nod. “We wanted to swap,” they say with a smile. And so the main course this time comes from “Love Cooking”. The dish presented by Andreas Strifler practically melts in your mouth at the thought: sous vide cooked beef roulade with apple red cabbage and napkin dumpling slices.
The vegetarian option is a creamy almond risotto with wild mushrooms and dried tomatoes. Guests can pick up the appropriate wine to accompany the meal in the courtyard, where the Teutsch winery has its stand.
And of course the musical accompaniment by the Freddy Wonder Combo is a must. The crowning culinary finale is the dessert “Chocolate meets pear with a kick”, again by Achim Sagstetter from “FantasTisch”. The restaurateur deliberately chose the pear: regional and seasonal.
The origin of the “Schuss” also fits in with this. The alcoholic addition is the “Williams special” from the Volk fruit farm. Sagstetter thinks it’s worth supporting products made locally, especially those that have won multiple awards. Speaking of which: the restaurateurs also all have their businesses in Hirschberg.
In the past, the team has often chosen a film to go with the meal, but that doesn’t always have to be the case, says Labryga. Especially since the comedy “Adieu Chérie – Breaking Up, French Style” was really well received. The plot: Alain (Franck Dubosc) is in love with Diane (Karin Viard) just like he was on the first day and is living through his fifties without a crisis.
He even got over the children moving out well. Diane, less so… For Alain, who sees for the first time that his marriage is faltering, it is time to ask himself the most important questions and, after 30 years of living together, to take a big risk: to leave Diane in order to rekindle the flame and the desire to see each other again.
But will the plan work? One thing is certain: the Schlemmerkino will once again offer a full program for all the senses.
