Freiburg (dpa) – What a reception for professional cyclist Simon Geschke. When the 35-year-old arrived back at the Freiburg train station after a six-week trip with the Tour de France, the summer games and the Olympic Corona quarantine in Tokyo, his dog freaked out completely. In a Twitter video shared by Geschke, the French bulldog was extremely happy about his master’s return home. The one year old and not particularly big dog even managed to throw gifts off balance with his love attack on the platform.

“Home sweet home after almost six weeks. What a wild trip it was,” tweeted Geschke. The native of Berlin landed at Frankfurt Airport on Sunday evening. Previously, after two negative PCR tests, he was allowed to leave the quarantine hotel in Tokyo and end the “most senseless trip of my career”.

Geschke had tested positive for the corona virus on July 23 – one day before the Olympic road race – despite being vaccinated. Although he was not considered contagious due to his CT value over 30, the former tour stage winner had to be quarantined. The stay at the Corona Hotel could have lasted a maximum of 14 days.
