What a crazy turn of events in the Przemyslaw Babiarz case.
The Polish TV presenter was arrested after the Olympic opening ceremony suspended. After that he refused to leave and stubbornly stayed in his hotel.
And now? Now he’s back on the microphone!

Babiarz, a celebrity in Poland, says: “At first I was relieved and now I’m very happy to be back at the microphone. All the time I also have gratitude in my heart and am surprised that so many people from different backgrounds have expressed their support for me.”
The broadcaster said in a statement: “The ban on coverage of the Paris Olympic Games was lifted. The parties agreed that a fundamental rule of objectivity and journalistic ethics is to separate information from subjective commentary.”

What had actually happened? At the opening ceremony, singer Juliette Armanet sang the song “Imagine” accompanied by a piano player. The song by John Lennon is considered the unofficial Olympic anthem.

Lennon sings about a world without heaven, without nations and without religion. A world in which people would simply live in peace. Values that the Olympic Committee also embodies.
But Babiarz scoffed during the live broadcast: “A world without heaven, nations and religions. This vision of peace that should apply to all people. Unfortunately, that is a vision of communism.”
His broadcaster Telewizja Polska reacted a day later and announced his suspension.

But in the background the situation escalated! 130 journalists and athletes then signed a letter of complaint to the station’s head. They demanded that the presenter be reinstated. Babiarz, however, refused to leave Paris during this time.
The station manager initially refused to rehire the TV presenter. But after a clarifying conversation, things changed.
