Fresh reinforcement Souček from Sparta started in the Brno jersey, but the guests had to face the onslaught of Sigma from the first minutes. In the fourth minute, Navrátil was close to the leading goal after Chvátala’s cross, and a minute later he headed from the edge of the penalty area just past Breite.

Zbrojovka quickly blunted the enormous pressure of Hanák, pushing through the wing spaces in front of Macík’s goal, but struck from the center of the field. Ševčík’s shot was processed in the 20th minute in the penalty area by Řezníček, and the top scorer of the previous season in the second league scored for the first time among the elite this season.

After the leading goal, the guests’ self-confidence increased, they kept the ball on their feet more and thus optically leveled the game. In the 30th minute, Ševčík could have increased Brno’s lead, Macík took his header under the crossbar with effort for a corner.

Sigma’s game did not return to the beginning of the match by halftime. Brno consistently defended and did not let the favorite into more serious opportunities. Conversely, on the other side, Řezníček once again pulled Macík between the home posts.

Olomouc started the second half with a big onslaught. In the 55th minute, substitute Vodháněl fired hard in his debut in the Sigma jersey and forced Berkovec to make a more difficult save. The Brno goalie also distinguished himself with Růska’s header.

The visitors faced the pressure with honest defense and fast breaks. After one of them, Řezníček could have scored a second goal, but his shot was weak and still wide. Zbrojovka’s second goal came only after the action of substitute Alli, who found Ševčík with a clever pass in the 70th minute. The 19-year-old youth representative followed up on the goal from the opening round.

Brno then had opportunities for a third goal, but they didn’t use any of them. Defensively, they didn’t let Sigma have any more serious chances and they managed to win the match relatively easily.
