Since December 27, around twenty elderly people living in nursing homes have benefited from the Pfizer / BioNtech vaccine, as have several members of the nursing staff.
However, despite the “transparency” on the results of vaccinations and its composition, desired by the Government, the French continue to question the effectiveness of the vaccine. In the Sunday newspaper, Olivier Véran is back cash on this vaccination campaign.
A human life “saved”
Yesterday, in his interview with our colleagues, the Minister of Health wished to recall the interest of vaccination against Covid-19 and asked the French to arm yourself with patience :
“I will not make any bet or prediction. But every time an elderly and fragile person is vaccinated, it will be a step, a potentially saved human life. Then comes the time for general public vaccination, in the spring or summer of 2021. What level of immunity, what collective protection will this confer on us? I can’t tell at this point. We still have to be patient ”
He then explained how the doses of the vaccine were purchased and when they would be delivered:
“We made secure and collective purchases with other European countries (…) The duration of the vaccination campaign will be a direct reflection of the production capacities of Pfizer-BioNTech, then of Moderna, which should receive a green light in early January. , then other vaccines which will arrive later ”
Olivier Véran denies this rumor about the vaccine
A rumor swells for some time on the vaccine in France: some say that the hexagon would depend only on the vaccine developed by the French laboratories Sanofi. False, according to the Minister of Health who was very annoyed:
“It is bullshit. France initiated collective European approaches, and the first contract we signed was with the Anglo-Swedish company AstraZeneca! General interest and scientific opportunity guided us. It is therefore necessary to wait now for the end of the phase 3 trials on the other vaccines and authorizations ”
