Olivier Giroud add to his collection of goals for the national team French with the opponent’s nick Ivory Coast. He is now only five goals from the new record.
Olivier Giroud contributed one goal, when France beat Ivory Coast 2-1 at Stade Orange Velodrome, Marseille, Saturday (26/3/2022) early morning WIB. Another French goal in the friendly match was scored by Aurelian Tchouameni, who decided the win The Blues at time injury time.
For Giroud, one goal in this match took him to a record 47 goals with the French national team. The AC Milan player recorded it in 111 appearances, or with a ratio of 0.42 goals per game.
The addition of this one goal brought him closer to the top scorer of France’s Thierry Henry. Henry still leads the list of national goalscorers with 51 goals, aka four goals more than Giroud.
This means that Giroud can set a new record if he manages to add five goals. The opportunity is definitely open, especially if he is still trusted until the 2022 World Cup later this year in Qatar.
However, Giroud also has a ‘threat’. Because Antoine Griezmann is not too far behind him with a score of 42 goals. With the age of four years younger, Griezmann on paper also has a great chance to break the record.
