The romance between ex-footballer Olivier Deschacht (43) and singer Pauline Slangen (22) is over, but they remain friends. Deschacht told this on radio station Joe.

Is Olivier Deschacht, former professional football player and the ex of Annelien Coorevits, a couple with the 21 years younger singer Pauline Slangen, known from Regi Academy, among others? It seemed that way, because of all those photos they took at the Eiffel Tower and in Dubai from the same place at the same time and because they were spotted together several times.

Yet the two have never had a relationship, Deschacht told presenter Ann Van Elsen on Friday in the Joe Le Taxi program. “We were very close for a short period of time,” he said there. “Pauline is a beautiful girl with a fantastic voice. A truly super talent. But our goals were completely different and the age between us was also a problem, also for her environment. Ultimately that is understandable. So maybe it’s better that we just stayed friends.”
He thus confirms what Slangen said at the beginning of this year in Nina magazine. She called herself too young for a “serious love affair”. “It’s true that Olivier and I often hang out together and that we travel together and have fun. We know each other well. But there is no relationship. I’m not going to say more about that,” she said at the time.
For Deschacht, a real relationship should not have to wait long, he told Joe. “I don’t like being alone. After every breakup, I’m looking for something different.”
