Olivia Rodrigo revealed that Chappell Roan shared “so many tips” with her for navigating fame — see what the “Vampire” singer had to say below.
Over the past few years, Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan have enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame. Both facing similar experiences, the two struck up a friendship – and performed together several times – and took turns sharing advice on how to deal with fame and the pressure they face from the part of the entertainment industry.
Recently, Roan joined Rodrigo at the world premiere of his new concert film “Guts” for Netflix. While attending the premiere, Rodrigo was questioned by Billboard on the advice they give each other. The “Good 4 U” singer was quick to admit that she’s not sure she’s offered much to Roan, but that Roan has been helpful in maintaining her mental health.
Rodrigo said to Billboard: “She actually gives me so much advice on how to take care of myself and be myself in an industry that can be so overwhelming. I really appreciate it. If I give him advice, I’m not so sure. But I get a lot from her.
Roan’s feelings about fame have regularly made headlines over the past couple of months, recently comparing her to “an abusive ex-husband”. In an interview with The facethe old ZikNation Cover The star spoke out about the normalization of extreme fan behavior, including “harassment, online bullshit, (people who) won’t leave you alone and yell at you in public.” She added: “I didn’t know it would hurt this much. »
Before that, she shared her thoughts on “weird” and “creepy” followers on TikTok, calling out “predatory behavior” from so-called “superfans” that includes “non-consensual physical and social interactions.”
Earlier this month, Rodrigo donated all proceeds from his first show in the Philippines to the non-profit organization Jhpiego which works “to ensure that moms and babies receive quality healthcare” ( according to their website).
The three-time Grammy winner has been on the road since February and is expected to finish her tour following her current four-night stay in Sydney. Rodrigo also announced new dates for his postponed Manchester shows, straight after Glastonbury 2025.
Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts” received a rave five-star review, with Sophie Williams writing for ZikNation: “’Guts’ doesn’t just seem transitional in a musical sense. This marks the end of Rodrigo’s adolescence, a serious moment given that she recently said in a statement that she felt like she grew “10 years” between the ages of 18 and 20. Here, she offers direct self-analysis while reflecting on broader cultural ideas of performance and swallowing anger in order to conform to the wants and needs of others. It functions as a demonstration of true power, range and versatility – all of which Rodrigo possesses in abundance.
As for Chappell Roan, the singer’s September 2023 debut album, “The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess,” was widely acclaimed. In a four-star review, ZikNation described it as “a display of Roan’s bold and brazen pen, where she places searing revelations alongside deliciously cheeky refrains.”
It has since topped the UK Albums Chart almost a year after its release – something Elton John praised her for.
