Olivia Munn Reveals Double Mastectomy After Breast Cancer Diagnosis: Inspiring Journey of American Actress

American actress and model Olivia Munn (43 years old) revealed on Wednesday that she underwent a double mastectomy last year after being diagnosed with an “aggressive and rapidly evolving” type of breast cancer.

Olivia Munn wrote on her Instagram account, after appearing on Sunday at the Academy Awards in Hollywood with her partner, American comedian John Mulaney, “I hope that sharing this will help others find comfort, inspiration, and support for their own journey” with this disease.

The actress, who is famous for her participation in the “Iron Man”, “Lego”, “X-Men” series of films, and the “The Newsroom” series, as well as the “Daily Show” program hosted by comedian Jon Stewart, explained that in February 2023, she underwent a “negative genetic test.” Cancer risk, and a normal mammogram result.

Despite this result, two months later, her gynecologist preferred to subject her to a statistical evaluation of her risk of developing breast cancer given her family’s history with this disease, or the age at which she gave birth to her child.

The result showed a 37 percent chance, and Olivia Munn subsequently underwent an MRI, ultrasound and biopsy, and it was found that she had “luminal B breast cancer in both breasts”, which is an “aggressive and rapidly progressing” form of cancer.

The actress, who posted photos of herself in the hospital, said, “30 days after this biopsy, I underwent a double mastectomy, and I went from feeling completely fine to waking up in a hospital bed ten hours after surgery.”

She explained that she underwent four operations in total.

It is noteworthy that American star Angelina Jolie made international headlines in May 2013, when she also revealed that she had undergone a double mastectomy.
