After a good last leg on Saturday and a good effort on Sunday morning, Oliver Solberg was forced to break the World Cup premiere in Monte-Carlo. Solberg and the map reader Elliott Edmondson felt bad about the smoke that came into the car and disturbed them all weekend.

Oliver Solberg did not succeed in reaching the finish line in his debut as a factory driver in the Hyundai team. Solberg had problems with the sound system from the beginning, something that affected the other cars in the team as well, and in addition, Solberg and the map reader Elliott Edmondson were disturbed by smoke that entered the car.
Sometimes and on certain parts of the routes, Solberg managed to have good times. On Saturday, he finished with the fourth best time on the 13th special stage, half a second faster than leading Sebastien Loeb.
Sunday also started well with sixth time on the 14th leg, faster than among others World Cup favorite Elfyn Evans. But after the finish, Solberg was forced to give up. He and the map reader Elliott Edmondson felt bad about the smoke in the car and it was considered dangerous to continue on the winding mountain roads.
To be forced to break after a departure on Saturday morning and problems with the car during almost all distances is a disappointment for Solberg, but the fast times are a certain consolation for the continuation of the Swedish rally in a month.
Several drivers also had problems in the World Cup premiere and big favorites such as Evans and Estonian Ott Tänak leave Monte-Carlo with significantly worse results than expected.
