Third term in Breisach

In the vote on Sunday, Oliver Rein received 96 percent of the votes. Voter turnout was 27 percent. For Rein, who had applied for the office for the third time, it will be the third term. He has been mayor of Breisach for eight years. In the last election in 2014, the local politician received around 71 percent of the votes. He had an opponent at the time.

As mayor wants Oliver Rein achieve, among other things, that more daycare places are created. For this, more staff must be hired and construction measures must be advanced. In addition, the 49-year-old wants to implement Breisach’s climate goals quickly. This includes strengthening public transport and cycling. In the course of this, one must also open up to wind turbines in Breisach’s district and geothermal energy.

Longtime CDU member

Oliver Rein has been a member of the CDU parliamentary group in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district council since 2009. He has been its chairman since 2013. Among other things, Rein is a member of the cross-border Eurodistrict Region Freiburg-Centre.
