The third edition of Master in Artistic Teaching: Thought and Contemporary Scenic Creation from the Higher School of Dramatic Art of Castilla y León, which will begin in January 2021, will feature a seminar given by the filmmaker Óliver Laxe and the screenwriter Santiago Fillol, winners of the film What burns. From April 5 to 11, they will share their experiences taking as reference some texts by TS Elliot. In addition, they will present their reflections on individual talent and tradition, placing them “in this magnetic field, where tradition and individual talent attract and reject, excite and cancel each other out,” Laxe and Fillol point out. Both filmmakers and the playwright and stage director Rodrigo García, founder of La Carnicería Teatro, are the guests of the artistic residency.
The creation laboratory inspired by the figure of the philosopher Walter Benjamin, entitled A ragman from history or a dialectical fairy tale or how to comb history against the grain, will open classes. This workshop will be directed by the stage director, Pepa Gamboa, creator of emblematic pieces for the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Spanish Theater in Madrid or the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
The master’s degree integrates among its teaching team professors with a solid academic trajectory and creators of recognized projection in their artistic field. This year it completes its teaching team with the incorporations of El Conde de Torrefiel, Fernando Castro Flórez, Javier Hernando, Juliana Jardim and Victoria Cavia. Carlota Ferrer, the choreographer Luz Arcas, Roberto Fratini, María M. Cabeza de Vaca or Darío Facal are other prominent names.
