München – It was quiet for a long time, but now the “Titan” is back: Ex-Bayern boss Oliver Kahn is counting on a reaction from the dethroned record champions before the start of the Bundesliga next weekend. “FC Bayern will strike back in the upcoming season,” Kahn told “Kicker” and added: “A season without a title triggers a lot of reflexes there. Bayern will do everything they can to become champions.”
The former world-class goalkeeper stressed that he believes Bayer Leverkusen “can compete for the title again”. However, he could not “imagine that Leverkusen will have another season with such enormous consistency.” Bayer was the first team to win the championship last season without a single defeat.

Even if he does not expect an “extreme setback” from coach Xabi Alonso’s team, “no fundamental change can be derived from such a “season of the century” and Bayern’s first year without a title in twelve years,” said Kahn: “Munich’s dominance is not over. If the Munich team fully exploits its potential, they are the favorites.”

Fifteen months after leaving his position as Bayern CEO, Kahn also commented on his own future. “I am intensively considering the issue of club investment. If everything fits together, I can imagine it very well,” he said.
Future as club boss? Kahn cites Beckham as an example
“Investing in football is different from investing in a screw manufacturer. Football is about culture, identity and community,” said Kahn, explaining his ambitions. “As a very entrepreneurial person, I like to drive things forward that don’t necessarily have anything to do with football. But ultimately, football is my DNA.”
The commitments of former world-class opponents are inspiration for his future plans. “When I see that Gerard Pique has just raised 60 million euros from investors for his ‘Kings League’, that is remarkable,” said Kahn as an example.
David Beckham’s involvement as boss of the US team Inter Miami with superstar Lionel Messi is also a possible role model. “His commitment shows that a strong combination of investment and sports expertise can bring many advantages for a club,” said Kahn.
