Ferrari, Sainz goes down, Bearman makes his debut in Jeddah
“I wasn’t 100% and I won’t be in qualifying“. Thus Carlos Sainz commented on his Thursday work in Saudi Arabia. However, the Spaniard expected to be able to race the rest of the weekend: that won’t be the case. Sainz has appendicitis and will even have to be operated on: therefore the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is skipped.
In his place, Ferrari hastily called Oliver Bearman, poleman in Formula 2. Naturally the Briton will not participate in the rest of the weekend’s events in F2 and will be driving the SF-24 starting from FP3 scheduled for 2.30pm .

This is the press release from Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will require surgery.
As from FP3 and for the rest of this weekend, he will be replaced by reserve driver Oliver Bearman. Oliver will therefore take no further part in this round of the F2 Championship.

Un weekend in words
Already on Wednesday Sainz had skipped media meetings, spending the day in a hotel. Yesterday the Spaniard got into the car at the last second, stoically managing to take part in FP1 and FP2. However, it is impossible for him to continue and follow up on Sakhir’s good podium.
