This is one of the instructions given by the president of the transition Oligui Nguema during a meeting with the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and Cadastre Ludovic Megne and the Director General of the National Real Estate Company Hermann Kamonomono.

100,000 to 150,000 CFA francs is the amount desired by the president of the transition for the monthly rent in social housing in Gabon. “I asked those responsible for this sector to put in place a plan aimed at reducing the costs of acquiring housing in order to guarantee equitable access to these essential amenities for all segments of the population,” he explained the president of the transition on Twitter.

For the Minister of Housing, the Head of State’s instructions are clear and aim to enable every Gabonese to benefit from decent housing at a lower cost. “The President has instructed us to significantly review housing costs which are extremely high. For the President, current prices are not acceptable. The Gabonese pays almost 300,000 francs per month for accommodation with the SNI. The Head of State asked us to bring it back to between 100 and 150,000 per month.”

Note that the rate of construction of new houses by the SNI is very low. The company often cites very high construction costs to justify the currently criticized prices. “ Our social housing capacities have declined due to the fact that our programs are no longer supported by the government as in the past. We have mechanisms such as the National Housing Fund (FNH) which no longer exists today. », Explained the director general of the SNI.
