13 wins and two crosses was IFK Kristianstad’s result of the season before meeting Sävehof. Going into the match between the league leaders and second-placed teams, the teams maintained an even pace in scoring records. But after twelve minutes played, Sävehof gained the upper hand and led with a maximum of three goals.
At the break, Sävehof led with 19 goals to 17. After the break, the lead was gone and the visitors were led by up to five balls, in the form of 19-24. Subsequently, Kristianstad gained new momentum and kept pace with Sävehof for a long time, but with just over ten minutes to go, the home team were seven goals behind.
17-year-old involved in 15 goals
Kristianstad reduced several times in the end and came close to making it 32-35. But with just two minutes remaining, the hosts’ Hampus Henningsson was sent off and Sävehof was able to secure victory with another man on the match and the score 33-37.
– Very fun game. It’s probably the toughest game (away) and we come here and put such a solid effort that goes with people away. We do it incredibly well both backwards and forwards and on the break. We are as tactically prepared as possible and it has to be a game like this, goalkeeper Simon Möller, who made 17 saves during the game, told SVT Sport.
It was tougher for the home team’s goalkeepers. Both Espen Christensen and Gustaf Banke had difficulty catching the ball and in total the pair made three saves.
Among the opponents, 17-year-old Olí Mittun has impressed. In total, he was involved in 15 goals, with seven goals and eight assists. Felix Möller, Sebastian Spante and Sebastian Karlsson also each scored seven goals.
– I think we play a great game. We score 37 goals and then it’s hard not to win. Great with a win against Kristianstad, says Mittun.
IFK Kristianstad’s first defeat was therefore a fact. The team still tops the table, but runners-up Sävehof come close to winning.
