Olesz has been training in Nové Jičín for some time, now the club has officially confirmed his arrival. “He wanted to play hockey, so we agreed that he would train with us and then make his own decision,” explained HK Nový Jičín manager Milan Urban.
In the cabin of the Devils from Nové Jičín, Olesz will meet former extra-league Vítkovice hockey players, defenders Petr Kuboš and Martin Dudáš or forwards Jiří Zdeňek and David Květoně. It was the former striker of Třinec and Vítkovice Kvétoň who had the greatest merit in the arrival of the 38-year-old double extra-league medalist with Vítkovice (bronze in 2001 and silver in 2002).
“He knows the boys very well, especially David Květoně, they played together for Vítkovice for three seasons and I assume that they will start in the same attack here as well,” revealed Urban.
The closest match in the second league awaits the hockey players from Novojičín on Saturday in Vyškov. But the fans will probably wait in vain for Olesz there. “The plan is that he should play for the first time on Saturday, November 11 at home against Hodonín. He will decide on the next program himself, depending on how he feels. If we play at home or somewhere nearby, for example in Kopřivnice or Havířov, I assume that he will want to play. But if he has other plans for Saturday, we will respect that,” said Urban in the address of the hockey player, who played in the extra league for Vítkovice for the first time in fifteen years and until recently was its youngest scorer for almost 22 years at the age of 16 years and 11 days. Before it was recently surpassed by Hradec Králové striker Adam Novotný.

Olesz in Nové Jičín
In 14 seasons in the domestic top flight, Olesz played in 559 games for three clubs (Vítkovice, Sparta and Olomouc) with a balance of 106 goals and 128 assists. From the 2005/2006 season, Olesz played overseas, where he successively wore the jersey of Florida, Chicago and the Devils from New Jersey. Overseas, he played in 365 games, in which he scored 134 Canadian points (57+77). Now he will wear the jersey with the devil on his chest again.
“He is an experienced fighter, but he will simply be part of our team. He doesn’t pretend to be a star,” smiled Urban, who has extensive experience working with former extra-league stars. Rostislav Klesla, Petr Kalus, Aleš Badal, Václav Slabý and Stanislav Pavelec wore the jersey of Nové Jičín in the past. Petr Nedvěd also played seven matches for the second division Nový Jičín in the 1997/1998 season.
