Jakarta –
Mykhailo Mudryk failed to score in 19 matches that passed together Chelsea. Arsenal defender, Oleksandr Zinchenkogive an explanation.
Mudryk was brought in by Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023. He was mentioned as a potential easy player because he was able to score 10 goals in 18 matches in the first half of the 2022/2023 season.
Joining Chelsea did not immediately make Mudryk shine. The player who was purchased at a price of up to 62 pounds has not even contributed a goal.
Zinchenko, as a fellow footballer from Ukraine, still praised Mudryk. He feels the 22-year-old player still needs time.
“The sky is the limit. The quality he has is extraordinary,” Zinchenko said on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast.
Zinchenko also reminded that the league in Ukraine is currently not good. That is also what might make Mudryk slow to develop at Chelsea.
“The thing is, I know it’s the price tag, the pressure, the media. I talk to him a lot. He comes from a different league, from the Ukrainian league and this Ukrainian league, unfortunately, at the moment, is not even at the level it was 10 years ago, when all the Brazilian players are interested – Fernandinho, Willian – it’s a good league.”
“But now, he’s come straight to Chelsea. It’s going to take time! I didn’t expect him to do this against Arsenal, but the quality, oof!”
