The Xunta de Galicia has confirmed the dismissal of the monitor personnel who attended the school bus in which a fifth-year-old boy was forgotten all morning, last Tuesday, without attending his class at the Luis Seoane de Mera school. The educational inspection has met with the director of the center, who has resigned.
Mayor, Angel Garcia Seoane, assures that she was forced to resign by the inspection itself, despite the fact that, according to the councilor, the director has no responsibility for what happens on the bus.
García Seoane is willing to promote mobilizations if the director is not reinstated in her position. The Ministry of Education He points out that the resignation occurred during that meeting and that he plans to accept it because, he says, the director did not report what had happened. The Xunta found out, he points out, in other ways, which represents a loss of confidence.
The facts
The boy’s father left the boy early in the morning on the school bus, but the boy fell asleep and did not come down with his companions upon arrival at school. Neither the yellow vest keepers nor the driver noticed that he was still in the vehicle.
The driver took the bus to a warehouse that his company has in Culleredo and the boy remained there, alone, for several hours, until the moment when another of his companions went to pick him up to do the return service. Then he saw the little boy who was still in his seat and who might even have had trouble removing his seat belt.
