The municipalities of A Coruña di Oleiros, As Pontes de García Rodríguez and Santiago de Compostela were in 2020 those with the largest per capita wealth in Galicia, according to the “Atlas of the distribution of household income” published this Friday by the National Institute of statistics (INE).
In particular, Oleiros continues to be the municipal council of Galicia with the highest net income per capita, with an average of € 16,403.37. Followed by As Pontes, with 15,482.06 euros per capita; and Santiago, with € 14,648.64 per neighbor.
After these three, the ‘top 5’ of the municipalities with the highest average wealth is completed with the city of A Coruña (14,590.68 euros per person), with the Lugo municipality of Cervo (14,286.51) and with the municipality of A Coruña Bergondo (13,751.65).
On the other hand, with 7,565.33 euros per resident, Avión (Ourense) ranks as the one with the lowest average net income. Beariz (Ourense) is also at the bottom of the ranking, with 9,062.06 euros per capita; A Lama (Pontevedra) with 9,152.43; Fisterra (A Coruña) with 9,224.49; and Boborás (Ourense), with € 9,299.69 per resident.
Similarly, according to INE data for 2020, a year marked by the pandemic and spring confinement, the vast majority of Galician municipalities – 70.6% – are below the national average in terms of per capita income, while the remaining 29.4% is above it, ie among those with medium-high or high income.
BY CITY AND BY PROVINCES
If we compare the data of the seven Galician cities, after Santiago and La Coruña, the third richest city is Vigo with 13,163.68 euros per year. The fourth is Ferrol (13,115.96) and the fifth Pontevedra (13,047.27).
The two Galician cities with the lowest net income in 2020 were the capitals of the inland provinces: Ourense (13,036.53 euros) and Lugo (12,992.30).
As for the data by province, A Coruña has an average wealth of 12,841 euros of income per year per inhabitant, so it is the only Galician who is found in the upper half of all Spanish provinces. In the other half, although very close to the average, there are those of Lugo (12,021), Ourense (11,937) and Pontevedra (11,881).
TOTAL SPAIN
Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid) was in 2020 the Spanish municipality with more than 2,000 inhabitants with the highest average annual income per capita, for a total of 26,009 euros, while the Sevillian municipality of El Palmar de Troya presented the lowest figure , with 6,785 euros, according to the same data from INE.
According to data from Statistics, Matadepera, in Barcelona, is the second richest municipality, with an average annual per capita income of 22,806 euros, followed by Boadilla del Monte (Madrid), with 22,224 euros, and two other municipalities in Barcelona. , Those of Sant Just Desvern and Sant Cugat del Vallés, with an average annual income of over 21,300 euros per inhabitant.
In Andalusia, on the other hand, there are all five municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants which in 2020 had the lowest average annual income per inhabitant: El Palmar de Troya, in Seville (6,785 euros); Iralloz and Albuñol, both in Granada, with 7,036 and 7,061 euros respectively; Huesa, in Jaén, with 7,080 euros, and Pruna, in Seville, with 7,219 euros.
By geographical location, the 2020 data published today by the INE reveal that 88.8% of the municipalities of the Basque Country are among the 25% of those with the highest income in Spain, above 13,637 euros, followed by Catalonia, with 49.1%.
At the other extreme is Andalusia, where 83.3% of its municipalities are among the 25% with the lowest income, under € 10,393, followed by Extremadura, with 83%.
GUIPÚZCOA, THE PROVINCE WITH THE HIGHEST INCOME PER INHABITANT
According to the INE, the provincial capitals with the highest percentage of censuses with the highest annual net per capita income are led by San Sebastián (57.6%), Girona (41%) and Madrid (39.8%). . On the contrary, Guadalajara (3.4%), Huelva (2.8%) and Pontevedra (1.6%) have the lowest percentages of very rich sections surveyed.
For their part, the provincial capitals with the highest percentage of sections with the lowest average annual net income per inhabitant, below the first decile of income, are Melilla (31.8%), Ceuta (25%) and Alicante (22.9%).
Statistics show that eleven provincial capitals have no census section in the low range of average income per inhabitant.
Overall, 62.2% of the population of the Basque Country live in high-income censuses, while in the case of Extremadura this percentage is only 7.6%.
In contrast, 59.5% of the population in Andalusia lives in low-income censuses. In the Basque Country this percentage stands at 1.1%.
By province, Guipúzcoa tops the list of annual income, with 16,399 euros of average annual net income per inhabitant. Madrid followed, with € 15,579; Biscay (15,555 euros); Barcelona (€ 14,676) and Álava (€ 14,962).
The provinces with the lowest annual per capita income are Almería (9,709 euros of net income); Jaen (9,958); Badajoz (10,001 euros); Huelva (10,112 euros) and Cadiz (10,113).
