Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provides injury update ahead of Chelsea game

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has clarified who may or may not be available for the upcoming clash against Chelsea.

The legendary Norwegian was speaking after the 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad and fans were therefore hoping for positive news.

United are currently grappling with an injury crisis in the central midfield with players like Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek all facing their own issues.

Solskjaer chose to play a midfielder partnership between Fred and Nemanja Matic against the Spanish team and the former was even replaced by Axel Tuanzebe, such was the desperation.

The Red Devils will need as many first-team stars as possible for their crucial game against the Blues this weekend.

Fred and Matic form a strong enough partnership to defend against Chelsea, but concern looms large as he is often too defensive of a double pivot to be of any offensive use.

This means that pressure will be on Manchester United forwards to hold the ball well and be creative outlets at the same time.

It has been difficult at times this season so hopefully the aforementioned players will be available or Solskjaer can get Fred or Matic to be more penetrating than usual.
