Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired from Manchester United. Then the Norwegian was hailed by a supporter who tattooed (!) The coach’s autograph on his leg.
This weekend’s bang was the last straw for Manchester United. Big loss against newcomer Watford and only two wins in the last eight matches forced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer away from the club.
Thanked by supporters
On Sunday morning, the news came that Manchester United decided to fire the Norwegian, who had to pack his bags and leave the club’s training facility.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not stop in the car from there to talk to the media, instead he stopped for supporters who went there to thank him for his coaching work and there is a meeting that stands out a little extra.
In a picture that has spread like wildfire on social media, you can see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handing out a hug to United supporter Luke Sellers.
– The hug was fantastic. I think we both needed it, says Luke Sellers to Norwegian Dagbladet.
But it did not end there.
Mighty tribute
The avid Manchester United supporter got the Norwegian to sign his tattoo and then went straight to the tattoo studio to have the autograph immortalized.
– I’m very happy (about the tattoo). I needed something to fill the void with and this fills it nicely. Now there is a nice symbol for this bittersweet day, says Luke Sellers.
Luke Sellers further tells the Norwegian newspaper that Solskjaer recognized his tattoo. It is namely from the historic Champions League final in 1999 when Solskjaer pushed the title to Manchester United in match minute 93.
– He (Solskjaer) said that he liked the tattoo and that he was very happy to have been the coach for the club, says Luke Sellers.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as temporary coach in December 2018 after Jo´se Mourinho was fired. The Norwegian then had his contract extended next summer, and signed another new contract as late as last summer.
