“Old Masters and Other Plays Presented on Ungelt Theater’s Summer Stage at Prague Castle”

Apart from the National Theatre, the Ungelt Theater is currently the only stage where you can see the actor František Němek live.

In Ungelt, Mr. Halpern and Mr. Johnson play in the productions with Petr Kostka, and with the principal of the theater Milan Hein, he also works in the show Old Masters.

In the tragicomedy Old Masters, the actors meet on stage in a close environment, in the roles of actors. The environment is essential for the performance, but more important are the relationships, which, according to Milan Hein, are very tense during the play.

Hein and Němec meet on the stage of the theater in the roles of actors and, moreover, brothers. One is successful and well-known, the other is in the shadow of a sibling all his life.

“František Němec and I are not brothers, but someone told us that it is believable. According to our acting type, we could be brothers,” said the principal of the Ungelt Theater Milan Hein.

Despite the fact that the play is a tragicomedy, the audience can really look forward to funny situations. “It’s a strong human story, you can say it’s dramatic, but it has a lot of lighthearted and humorous parts,” added the actor.

The Ungelt Theater will present the old masters and all their other plays on their summer stage at Prague Castle. “This year, we will start it on May 16 with a performance of Housle, which is an American comedy starring Jiří Langmajer, Pavel Liška and myself,” explained Hein.

A total of 110 performances will take place at Nové Svět, namely 20 titles.

The theater’s regular guest, actress Simona Stašová, is returning to the summer stage again this year with her series of performances. Filumena Marturano, where Stašová excels alongside Svatopluk Skopala, and The Last of Hot Lovers, where she meets Petr Nárožný, will take place.

For the first time, Richard Krajčo will take a look at the summer scene with his performance All Wonderful Things, Ondřej Brousek with David Švehlík and the play It Happened in the Zoo.

Veronika Khek Kubařová, Igor Orozovič and Marek Němec will meet again in the performance of Brách. The audience can look forward to the intimate family saga of the famous British playwright about a fateful love triangle over the course of twenty-four years.

In addition, in May, the Ungelt summer stage will celebrate the 300th reprise of the performance Mr. Halper and Mr. Johnson with the legends of the Czech theater, František Němec and Petr Kostka.
