Microsoft developer Raymond Chen Tuesday on your blog wrote that some unnamed laptops made around 2005 in the Windows XP era regularly crashed while playing Janet Jackson’s song Rhythm Nation. There was apparently resonance within the 2.5 “5400 rpm discs.
A manufacturer partially solved the problem by including a filter in the audio driver to remove unwanted frequencies. Of course, this didn’t solve the problem of the song coming from another source. The issue also has its official designation CVE-2022–38392.
If you have an old 2.5 “5400 RPM drive at home, you can try vibrating it. For spinning discs yelling is also not recommended.
