Old cinema Plau am See becomes a cultural hotspot

The man with the vacuum cleaner is cleaning the floor again, while numerous artists from Plau am See hang their works of art on the walls in the foyer. From August 10th to October 10th, the Old Cinema is one of the nine exhibition areas of the “Lupine 2024”.

“In Plau am See there is not only sun, beach and water, but also a lot of culture,” says Andrea Rätz, who is organizing the exhibition together with eleven other cultural workers from Plau am See. There are paintings, sculptures and many other objects on display.

Castle Festival Plau am See invites you to Kurt Weill evening

But that is not the only highlight that visitors can experience in the former cinema. The Plau am See Castle Festival invites you to the Kurt Weill evening on Wednesday, August 7th. It starts at 7.30 p.m. The focus of this production with singing and acting is the image of women in Kurt Weill’s time and today. Jil Clesse and Ulrike Hallas interpret and stage selected compositions by Kurt Weill and combine them with poems and texts by famous writers of his time.

Kurt Weill was born in Dessau in 1900 and died in New York in 1950. Among other things, he wrote the music for Bertolt Brecht’s Threepenny Opera.

Black and white festival in front of the cinema

Another highlight will be on August 30th. “This year too, we are delighted to be able to celebrate our traditional ‘Black and White Festival’,” says chairman Marco Rexin.

The meeting point is at 7 p.m. in front of the Plauer Theater-Kino on Dammstrasse. “The outfit should match the name of our festival and be in white or black and white,” says Rexin. Delicacies from the kitchen and homemade salads will round off the get-together in the tried and tested picnic tradition.

“We are pleased to share impressions of this year’s cultural trip and to arouse interest in participating next year,” says Marco Rexin.
