The 45-year-old worked for more than three years in the cleaning service of the municipality of Eretria by teleworking from the 30-meter hole in mountainous Corinthia and today is expected to be put on holiday.
The man had requested a transfer from the municipality of Ilioupoli, presenting documents stating a health problem. His request is unanimously accepted and he starts working in the municipality of Eretria with remote work and a salary of 1,029 euros net per month.
“We didn’t know him”
Speaking to MEGA, Voula Americanou, Deputy Mayor of Finance and Administrative Services of the Municipality of Eretria, stated that the 45-year-old was working remotely with duties at the traffic office.
«We don’t know him, we saw him on TV. We didn’t even know his face, because he hadn’t appeared. We found him in the Municipality’s offices and wanting to get to know the employees one by one, in this context we saw that this particular person had not shown up for work at all,” he said.
As he said at the beginning of last January, the municipality of Eretria contacted him at least three times requesting his physical presence at work.
“He told us he couldn’t come and the reason was that he works remotely. I asked for an order from the new mayor, remote work does not exist for us and it should have a physical presence in the Municipality. We did not come as a new administration after 3 phone calls we made to him, we operated institutionally” he said saying that the man is expected to be put on holiday.
It is recalled that the case came to light after a complaint about damage to a local resident’s vehicle. The authorities located the family at the scene, which has set up its house in a burrow in Mountainous Corinthia. This was followed by the arrest of the 45-year-old, while the minor children of the family remain missing, with the Police conducting investigations to locate them.
“No DNA download requested”
The press representative of EL.AS. Constantia Dimoglidou said that no DNA has been requested to prove if the children belong to the particular family.
“There is a preliminary investigation in progress that has been ordered by a competent prosecutor at the AT of Corinth. It includes research together with a social worker in the home. By order of the prosecutor, the one minor child of the family, 15 years old, was also removed,” he said.
“No DNA has been requested to prove if the children belong to this family, but documents have been requested from the prosecutor to prove that the children belong to that family,” he said.
The prosecution framework for the 45-year-old father concerns the protection of children, noted lawyer Yiannis Marakakis.
“The environment in which children live is dangerous. Abroad, in families that had similar unconventional behavior, they are usually numerous families and there were phenomena of endogamy and incest,” added the lawyer.
