Book recycling continues to gain popularity among readers, thanks to initiatives such as street markets or book fairs. And it is that despite making them more affordable and reducing the impact on the environment, sometimes these second-hand books have some kind of memory of their previous owner, either in the form of damage, bookmarks, or even messages. One of the attendees at the Santiago Compostela Book Fair can attest to this, who, when browsing through the copies of a stall, received a great surprise that has triumphed on social networks, where it already has more than 500 ‘likes’. .
The user in question has published a small thread in which he begins by contextualizing: “I come from the #Santiago Old Book Fair. There is a booth that is full of books that belonged to the same man, who dedicated himself to writing in the first page how bad they were. (This is by Gay Talese)”. Along with the tweet, he has published a photo of the page in question where the message can be read: “A shit! Fuck book!”
“In some cases, the gentleman even promises to look for the author and the jury that gave him an award so that they return the money for that mess,” he continues, explaining, along with another photo on the first page, with a more extensive criticism on this occasion: “A bad, bad, bad novel scam.”
The last of the reviews published by the tweeter also seems to be “the most positive assessment”, and that is that in it the original owner of the books simply writes: “Phsss! Flojita”. Javier Peña has ended up demanding sarcastically: “Award for the best reader of the year for this gentleman, please”, in addition to asking him to remain anonymous.
