“Old blood flowed from the ceiling.” In Riga, without anyone knowing, the corpse of a dead man has been in an apartment for a month – Society and Politics – News

At the end of June, the population began to smell unpleasant, which became stronger every day. It turns out that it comes from an apartment on the fifth floor, where, without anyone knowing, a person hung.

The owner of the apartment next to Inna says that she learned about the terrible incident from the tenants, who, without warning, announced that they were moving out of the apartment because they could not stand the stink. Inna explained that it was impossible to stay in their apartment, because the smell from the neighbor’s apartment had entered through the general ventilation.

The other neighbors only found out about the tragedy when a red, smelly liquid began to flow from the ceiling to the neighbor on the lower floor, which turned out to be blood.

The resident of the fifth floor, Sanita, remembers how the neighbor guy immediately called the police, the ambulance, the rescuers who opened the apartment.

The owner of the dwelling, who had been in an unenviable condition for some time, had hung in it – even on hot summer days. The smell was unbearable – especially in the stairwell.

The most durable inhabitants of the house have been living with stink for a month, but now the measure of their patience is full. Nobody seems to know about the terrible smell and dirt!

“We’d like to settle to disinfect their apartment. I don’t know how healthy it is for our health that we breathe the smell of a corpse! Sorry, that’s not normal,” Sanita said.

Mihaels Vrubļevskis, a representative of the Teika district of the State Police (VP), confirms that on June 28, criminal proceedings were initiated in the Teika district of Rīga regarding the fact of finding a man’s corpse in an apartment. The corpse was taken to the morgue for examination, the relatives of the deceased man were notified of the incident. He also explains that the police are not obliged to clean the scene. He advises residents to turn to the house manager for help.

The Health Inspectorate states that – if disinfection is required in common areas, it should be undertaken by the housekeeper, but if in the apartment, – the relatives of the deceased should be knocked to the conscience, asking for cleaning as soon as possible.

“If there is an unpleasant odor in the common room, in this case in the stairwell of an apartment building, which also affects the neighbors, then the house manager is obliged to disinfect these rooms, while cleaning and disinfection of the apartment “If this problem is not solved for a long time, then it is possible to write an official application to the Health Inspectorate. It can be done in person, but we still call it to be done electronically,” said the representative of the Health Inspectorate Maira Kalniņa.

It is not possible for the “Riga House Manager” (RNP) to communicate with the relatives of the deceased. Their names and contact information are known only to law enforcement officers.

“This situation is extraordinary and absolutely uncomfortable for all these residents of the house, but the manager has very limited opportunities to participate in solving this problem in any way, because it is a private space, an apartment owned by an owner and in this case potential heirs and “The manager does not actually have this kind of contact with these people. The manager himself cannot enter the property in any way. We have communicated with the police and now we have received a response that relatives have promised to perform this disinfection in the near future,” explained RNP spokesman Krists.

It is not known whether and when the relatives will do the cleaning work, all that remains is to hope for their honesty.
