Olaf Scholz’s plane was returning from Japan via the North Pole – World – tsn.ua

The government Airbus A350, which the German Chancellor was returning from a working trip to Japan, circled the airspace of the Russian Federation.

The plane of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz crossed the North Pole on its return from Japan. Thus, the government airliner bypassed the airspace of Russia.

About it informs Spiegel.

From Tokyo to Berlin, the government plane of the German chancellor flew longer than usual. The flight lasted more than 13 hours – about 1 hour 20 minutes longer than the direct route, which passes through China and Russia.

Scholz took off from a Japanese airport in an Airbus A350, first north through Alaska, then turned west, flew over the Arctic Ocean and reached Germany via Finland.

On the way to Japan, Scholz also flew over the territory of the Russian Federation, but in a different way – through Poland, Romania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and China. This journey took 13 hours.

A government aircraft pilot noted in a commentary that flying over the North Pole is a rare event, even for experienced pilots.

Recall that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Russia informed civil aviation that closes almost all airspace near the border with Ukraine.
