According to veteran reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, Oladipo recently rejected the Rockets’ two-year renewal offer of 45.2 million. Now most teams can offer him a contract.
In addition, US reporter Keith Pompey reported that it is reported that some league sources believe that Rockets player Oladipo may sign with the Heat as a free agent during this offseason. Oladipo had rumors of a deal with the Heat last year, but he was eventually sent to the Rockets in a four-party deal he had completed before.
Keith Pompey said that the Rockets must not want to let Oladipo go for nothing. They will try to trade Oladipo for some draft picks or young players before the trade deadline (March 26). Insiders in the league believe that the Rockets’ current poor record (in a ten-game losing streak) will also accelerate their pace of sending out team veterans in exchange for future assets.
Oladipo’s contract will expire after the end of the season. So far this season, Oladipo has played 13 games for the Rockets, averaging 31.4 minutes per game, averaging 18.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and shooting 39.1%/29.5%/76.2%.
ESPN Sources: Houston Rockets guard Victor Oladipo recently turned down a two-year, $45.2M contract extension, most the franchise is eligible to offer him now. https://t.co/Tl0Q4Gi6zy
