Baturaja (ANTARA) – The District Health Bureau of Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra, has recorded 45 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the area for all of 2022.
“As of December 2022, there have been 45 cases of dengue fever in OKU district,” said Ogan Komering Ulu Health Service (OKU) division chief Andi Prapto in Baturaja in Baturaja on Monday.
He said the number was up sharply from a year earlier, which had five dengue cases by the end of 2021.
Dozens of DHF patients range from children to people as young as 44 who are forced to be treated in local hospitals due to the disease.
“Thank God, no one died. All the patients recovered after undergoing intensive care in the hospital,” he said.
Even so, his party still urges the public to be aware of the dengue fever that tends to spread during the rainy season by implementing the 3M model, namely by draining and shutting off water storage tanks and burying used goods.
According to him, this method is considered effective in preventing the spread of dengue in the community, especially among children.
In addition to using mosquito nets, people are also asked to install wire mesh on windows and ventilation so that mosquitoes don’t enter the house.
He explained that dengue fever is caused by mosquitoes Temples of the Egyptians which can cause sufferers to experience symptoms such as high fever and muscle joint pain that make bones feel cracked.
“In fact, this disease can lead to the death of patients. For the DHF cases at OKU in 2019, one resident died from the disease,” he said.
To anticipate the spread of DHF, his party has again reminded all local communities to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle and promote the 3M movement.
