The 189th edition of the Oktoberfest has begun in Munich, the most famous and largest beer festival in the world, which this year will welcome almost 6 million visitors to the Theresienwiese, a historic public space in the Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt district. The program of events that accompany the festival is rich: from the tapping of beer to the parade of traditional costumes and riflemen, from spectacular amusement parks to concerts, from traditional parades of groups to musical bands in historical costume.

The festival, founded in 1810 to celebrate Bavarian food and wine traditions, will be inaugurated by two iconic events: the great parade of innkeepers and breweries and the ritual of tapping beer from the barrels. On Sunday, September 22, there will be the historic parade of folk groups dressed up for the occasion and in historical uniforms, accompanied by small orchestras, bands of musicians, competitive and Alpine shooters, horses, oxen and decorated wagons. There will also be space for games for children and festival veterans. On September 29, the usual open-air concert of around 400 musicians will be held; on October 1, the highlight is the Family Day with rides and attractions at discounted prices. On October 3, the traditional meeting between the carnies will take place while under the Hippodrom tent, liters and liters of beer will flow to the sound of music.

The festival will close on October 6th with firecrackers being set off on the steps of the statue of Bavaria and the inevitable toasts with mugs.
