Oktoberfest causes chaos and long queues at the airport

On Thursday there were long queues at Munich Airport that even stretched outside. Now those responsible are taking a stand.

There is supposed to be a lot of chaos at Munich airport on Thursday. Numerous eyewitnesses report this on the “X” platform, among others. This seems to be confirmed in a video available to the radio station “95.5 Charivari”: Hundreds of people are standing in a queue on the airport premises in Terminal 2 and are apparently waiting for the security check.

“It’s unbelievable, I just brought my girlfriend and the queue goes out of the terminal and turns around the forecourt twice and goes along the entire terminal! That’s probably 3 kilometers of queue, I don’t even have anything like that in Chinese New Year Beijing experienced,” says a Reddit user, describing the situation at the airport.

On “X” the airport now took a position on the current situation. “We know that a lot of patience is needed at the moment,” it says in a response to a user’s complaint. And further: “During the Oktoberfest season we have 1,000 flights and over 130,000 passengers every day. Our employees ensure that passengers are brought to passenger checks as quickly and in an orderly manner as possible.”

However, it was not stated why exactly the delays are occurring and how long they will last. As of this afternoon, there was no official statement from the airport. However, there are said to be no delays in departures due to the long queues.
